There's a simple rule in Sunshine Oelfke's house - you have to take milk with every meal.

We all know the benefits of milk for our kids, and for Sunshine, having milk was part and parcel of her daily routine.

But when the five-year-old started school, she was surprised to learn that not everyone in her class had milk so easily available to them.

When Sunshine had noticed one of her class mates without milk during lunch time, she thought about the possibility that this child could not buy milk for themselves.

The five-year-old couldn't let the thought pass without doing something about it, deciding to bring money to school the following day so her friend could buy some milk.

Sunshine completes house chores regularly, from this she has made a small monetary gain allowing her to help out her friend, but she hasn't stopped there.

The youngster's grandmother shares: "Sunshine took money from her snowmobile savings to school for a friend who couldn’t afford milk at snack time."

"Sunshine loves snow and riding so this gesture made a huge impact. She has continued to take money each day as she has learned more of her friends did not get milk."

"She's five and doesn’t grasp the concept of the HUGE impact she is making, but we all do. What she does understand is all her friends were able to get milk last week at school. Her piggy bank is empty now so she needs to do more chores," added her grandmother, Jackie.

Moreover the tot continues to support her friends in school by completing her chores each evening in the home, while also taking any donations available.

"She continues to take money she earns from the night before to school each day for her friends to have milk. [...] I don’t know how long she will continue this but I do know I won’t stop her."

What an amazing little girl, if we all took a leaf out of her book what a lovely world we would live in.
