There have been so many frightening stories of abduction and missing children of late, and this latest one will send chills down your spine.
Police in England have launched a manhunt after a six-year-old girl was abducted in Burnley.
According to reports, the little girl was taken by a man at around 4pm yesterday evening, Thursday, and was dropped off around four miles away, in Hapton.
The incident only came to the attention of local authorities when the child was discovered alone in the area.
The suspect is described as a white man with a tanned complexion, who is bald and believed to be in his forties. Police say that he may have been driving a large, dark-coloured car.
It is not yet known how long the girl was with the man for.
Appealing for information as police attempt to track down the abductor, Detective Chief Inspector Joane McHugh said: “This investigation is very much in its early stages, and we are determined to find out exactly what has happened to this young child and to catch the man who has done this.”
She added that security in both areas has been increased, and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting incident reference 0916 of Thursday. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
This further highlights the importance of teaching our children about stranger danger.
