Unfortunately, since the recent upsurge in disturbing YouTube videos disguised as children's content, we as parents have had to be even more aware of what our kids access via technology.

Recently, it came to light that an app entitled 'Call Blaze and the Monster Machines 2018' (based on the Nickelodeon show Blaze and the Monster Machines) has been sending a threatening message to young users.

Thankfully, though, the app has since been suspended from Google Play and is not available on Apple devices, the HuffPost UK reports.

The app is disguised to look like an official product of the show, in which kids can call the characters.

However, the initially cute concept became concerning when a number of parents heard what the app was saying to young children. The voice coming from the app threatens to stab the user.

Since the suspension of 'Call Blaze and the Monster Machines 2018', Google has spoken out about the app and others like it featuring disturbing content.

"We have a set of policies designed to provide a great experience for users and developers and we act quickly to remove apps from Google Play that violate those policies," a Google spokesperson told the HuffPost UK.

Nickelodeon also responded to the revelation about the app's violent content.

"We were alerted to the illicit Blaze And The Monsters Machines app yesterday along with a range of other content from the same individual. The safety of kids and families are of paramount importance to us.

“Nickelodeon worked as a matter of urgency with Google Play to have all the illegal apps removed. They removed all of the offending content immediately yesterday afternoon," the network's representative said.

We hope that the necessary precautions are taken so that no more such apps reach our children.
