A devastated mother is suing her local government and a campsite, after her son died while out on a day trip with his school.
Xiaoying Tan, originally from China, is suing for damages three years on from the death of seven-year-old son Junpeng, from a suspected snake bite.
The family had only moved to Australia three months previous to the accident, which occurred while Junpeng was on an excursion at the Mount Morton resort.
After supposedly being bitten by the creature, Junpeng suffered cardiac arrest. While teachers at Rowville Primary School are said to have performed CPR in a bid to save him, Junpeng was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at hospital.
Ms Tan has now brought a civil claim against the State Government and the company that runs the camp, claiming that she has been left battling post-traumatic stress disorder and depression in the wake of her heartbreaking loss.
According to reports, Ms Tan is looking for $500,000 in damages following her ordeal.
