A heroic woman who shielded her pregnant belly as she was struck by a tow truck has given birth.

Jenny Quiles, from Philadelphia, was eight months pregnant when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. In an effort to protect her unborn child, the courageous woman cradled her stomach to try to minimise the impact on her baby.

Jenny was rushed to hospital, where she went into a coma, but miraculously, her baby was delivered safe and well this week.

It was reported today by Fox that Jenny gave birth to a daughter via C-section on Wednesday. The as yet unnamed baby girl weighed in at six pounds.

Jenny reportedly suffered a major brain injury in the accident, and is now recovering in intensive care.

Speaking after the birth of his new baby girl, Jenny’s husband Angel said: “She has changed my whole world. She taught me to open my mind. She has been a blessing to me.”

We’re sending our best wishes for Jenny’s recovery at this time.
