How incredible is this story?

Some six years ago, Chris Truesdale met his son Terrell Starr, and it’s all thanks to Facebook.

Terrell grew up in Detroit under his gran’s care, while his mum was in the military. It wasn’t until 2009, at the tender age of 29, that he decided to enlist Facebook’s help to find his dad.

Not expecting anything to come from his search, Terrell nonetheless typed his dad’s name into the ‘search’ box in an attempt to find him. When he found a Chris Truesdale who looked like himself, he sent him a message.

Incredibly, dad Chris had just bought a computer two weeks prior to receiving the message. After logging onto Facebook, Chris saw the message entitled ‘Looking for a father.’

He was stunned, not least because he hadn’t even known that he had a son.

According to Today, Terrell had been conceived while his mum was in the military, but by the time she found out she was expecting, she’d already left her military base, and could never track Chris down.

“I’m not a guy that has children and don’t take care of them,” Chris told Today. “Shoot, I mean, had I known he was my child, he’d have been right there.”

Fortunately, Terrell found his dad at a time when he needed him most.

Struggling to find work after college, Terrell was delighted when his dad took him into his home while he found his feet.

“I didn’t think I needed a father when I was younger, but I needed one when I was 31 years old,” Terrell admitted.

“I thought I was completely prepared for the world, and life had a different plan.”

Terrell now lives in his own home, but he regularly meets Chris for a few cold ones, and Chris is delighted to have his boy in his life, even if it is a bit late in the day.

“I love him,” he said. “We do grown adult things together, and he came at the perfect time in my life.”
