After a court ruling in favour of a father who took his daughter on holiday during term time, travel agencies have seen an increase in holiday bookings during school time as the court’s decision was publicised.

An online agency has said there has been an 88% rise in the number of bookings they have received for term days in comparison to booking rates before the court’s decision was revealed.

And if you wanted more proof that this is influencing people’s booking habits, there was also a 32% fall in bookings during the summer holiday months.

Within a week, an online discount flight website saw a 50% increase in searches for flights to Lanzarote and Malaga during spring term.

And again the searches for those destinations during the summer months fell.

The court ruled in favour of the father because of his daughter’s good overall attendance record which experts think is something that parents across the country have listened to.
