I loved this movie: Hugh Jackman teases sequel to The Greatest Showman

Hugh Jackman has opened up about whether we’ll be reunited with P.T Barnum again and it looks like the chances are quite high.

The Greatest Showman star said he hopes there will be a sequel to the beloved musical, but there are many hurdles he needs to get passed first.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Hugh said he would jump at the chance to play P.T Barnum again: “If a genuine opportunity came up where it felt like the right thing to do, then yep, I'd get the top hat back out."

However, there may be some issues with the sequel as the original movie is currently being bought by Disney.

Hugh explained: “We have a situation in the business where the company that did it has been sold to Disney, so there are a lot of spinning plates right now.”

He added: “I'm not sure what they would do, but it did take a while to get the first one up, and it's not to be underestimated how difficult it is to get a musical up and going.”

The 50-year-old is aware of just how much the public adores The Greatest Showman, so he knows a second movie would be very well received. "But it's clear to me and to everyone that people love these characters. I loved this movie, I loved this character and it was one of the great joys of my life."

The Greatest Showman follows the story of P. T. Barnum, who came from nothing and went on to create a show that became a huge success around the world. The original musical celebrates diversity and the uplifting tale has captured the hearts of millions around the world.

Here’s hoping Hugh will return to the big top for a sequel to The Greatest Showman.
