A mother has shared chilling video footage showing the moment when a man tried to lure her children into his van, with the offer of doughnuts.

Rechelle Marcia Haigh took to Facebook to issue a warning to people in the Manchester area, posting the frightening footage along with a photo of the driver.

“WARNING: Partington, Manchester area. Here is the footage of the man that tried to offer my children doughnuts. He told them to go to his van,” she wrote.

In the video, three children can be seen playing in their garden, on a trampoline, when the white van pulls up over the wall. The man can then be seen leaning out of the window, talking to the kids.

The older child – Rechelle’s daughter Sadé – is seen running away for a moment, followed by another child, before coming back and grabbing her younger sibling.

“Absolutely scary to watch, but I’m so proud of my Sadé for acting fast in this footage,” added Rechelle.

She confirmed that the footage was captured at approximately 2pm on Saturday, October 7.

“Please, keep your kids safe. When I approached this man, he acted weird and asked me if my kids wanted some doughnuts, then drove off when I stepped out of the house,” she recalled.

“I thank my blessings I still have my children and I have always told Sadé to run if this ever happened.”

Rechelle’s posted has garnered plenty of reaction across Facebook, with many people praising Sadé’s quick-thinking – but also expressing their shock over the footage.

“What a world we live in, when kids aren't safe in their own garden,” wrote one friend, in the comment section.

“Well done to your children, especially your oldest Sadé, for running to get her younger sister. Bet you’re proud of your children for realising the situation they were put in,” wrote another.

Local police are said to be investigating the incident currently.
