Following a stabbing incident on the grounds of The Manchester College this morning, the campus has remained closed for the day.
According to emerging reports, two students suffered stab wounds following an alleged altercation over a girlfriend - with one sustaining injuries to his back and the other to his chest.
Emergency services were called to the Shena Simon campus on Chorlton Street. and the scene is currently being forensically examined.
Commenting on this morning's incident, principal Lisa O' Loughling confirmed: "An incident occurred this morning at our Shena Simon campus in which two of our students were injured."
"We are providing full support to our students and staff at this difficult time," she added.
It has been established that a knife was recovered at the scene which will undergo forensic examination.
"The knife will be forensically examined, but we still need people to contact us with any information they have." confirmed Chief Inspector Gareth Parkin
"I'd like to reassure the community that we have a number of highly-skilled officers working on this investigation and will continue to carry out extensive enquiries."
The students involved in this morning's incident are understood to be aged 17 and 18-years-old.
