Could Audrey be the coolest seven-year old ever?
Audrey Nethery has a rare disease called Diamond Blackfan Anaemia. And although the condition makes life a lot more challenging, the spirited, sparky little girl refuses to let it stop her achieve her dreams.
“[My condition] doesn’t make as much blood cells as most people do, and it makes me a little bit short, but that doesn’t stop me from moving and acting,” she told NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. And she’s a total performer, from her expressive hand gesticulation to her passionate, confident way of speaking.
Audrey loves to sing, dance and act – and people love to watch her. So much so that her videos have managed to raise $30,000 to find a cure for her illness.
“I was inspired by Taylor Swift,” explains Audrey, “because she has all the passion and the spirit, and I just thought I would start singing to put a little passion and spirit in me.”
She even performed a duet of The Beatles “I Am the Walrus” with her dad Scott at her Diamond Blackfan Anaemia benefit, and on another occasion posted a special performance on YouTube to the people of Ecuador when she and her family heard about the earthquake that happened there.
She’s seven peeps. Seven.
“I can take a breath and say, ‘I can do this’ and then you go out there and you just do it!” she says.
What an incredible little lady. Consider us inspired.
