Plenty of parents are encouraging their little ones to get into IT. After all, it's one of the highest-paid sectors out there.
But it's also a very male-dominated industry, and it can be hard to attract girls into tech courses when they hit college.
The answer? Start encouraging them early.
That’s what Mattel is to do with its brand-new, high-tech doll, Game Developer Barbie.
Instead of her trademark frilly dresses and stilettos, this latest incarnation of Mattel’s most famous creation sports faded jeans, a khaki jacket, funky dyed hair and hipster glasses.
Of course she wouldn’t be let anywhere near Silicon Valley without her trusty laptop, table and headset.
And not one bit of it is pink!
She’ll be released on August 4th but you can pre-order her on Amazon for £14.99.
