It's tough for parents having a grown offspring in the army.
It often means going for long periods without seeing them, not to mention having to deal with the constant worry that their lives are in danger.
So when one son surprised his mum at her home recently, she was beyond overwhelmed.
Having not seen his mum for almost five years, 28-year-old Army specialist Kyle Kracht turned up at his mum’s home. He let himself in and sat back, waiting for her to return from wherever she was.
When he sees her walk in the door, he announces himself. “Hi, mom!” he says, as casually as you as you like.
Within seconds, mum Cheri is screaming the house down in shock. At one point she even leaves the room to have a proper screech, then reunites with her boy with a huge, big bear hug.
When it truly hits her that her son is home, safe and sound, she can’t seem to let go. Aww. Our hearts are melting here.
