The sun is out, the sky is blue, and we have been sizzling in the glorious heat these past few weeks.

This type of weather usually means that the paddling pools are out in force in every back garden everywhere.

However, with paddling pools comes a whole host of other problems, mainly the issue of bugs and leaves getting in/all over it.

It was mum-of-eight Deborah Hitchens, of the Family Days Tried & Tested Facebook group, that shared a solution to this problem earlier on in the week.

She posted a hack suggested by fellow mother Sarah Jane Bennett.

The tip was this: with an old fitted sheet, cover the pool when it's not in use and it will keep anything unwanted out of it and safe for the kids to use every day during the summer.

Simple. right? Well, social media has been lapping it up.

The post has racked up a whopping 10,000 shares, 2,200 comments and a 2,000 likes. Wow.

One woman commented, ''been doing that this summer and thought I was being waaay imaginative until I saw this post!''

Another person said, ''I use a tarpaulin and tuck the ends underneath! Does the job x.''

Mumsnet have spoken about covering paddling pools in past discussions.

One user said she considered using cling film to keep out the insects and dirt.

''How else do you stop all the creepy crawlies getting in, and the water going green overnight? Also thought the cling film might keep the heat in... would like to get more than an hours use out of it.''

It seems that this is a very common problem for mums during the summer months!

Have you done this before or have you ever tried anything else?
