When you have kids your sleeping pattern changes dramatically, from night feeds to early morning school runs. Gone are the days where you hid under your duvet and slept until midday on a Saturday.

Mums tend to neglect themselves when it comes to their sleeping habits. A study that was carried out earlier this year showed that women with children are more sleep deprived than those without.

The study found that 48 percent of women with children got less than seven hours sleep per night. Many women, especially new mums, suffer from insomnia, but there is a podcast that will help you fall asleep, even when you’re feeling wide awake and alert.

The Sleep With Me podcast was created by 42-year-old Drew Ackerman. Drew has suffered from insomnia since he was a kid and hopes his podcast can help his fellow night owls. His aim is to, “create a safe place where you can set aside whatever’s been running through your brain.”

The podcast was launched in 2013 and has mustered up a huge following since then. Drew, who is the host of the show, believes that speaking at a slow pace and using a monotone voice helps people to feel like they’re drifting off.

Drew often goes off topic and talks about mundane topics throughout the episode. The podcast has recently entered the iTunes top 50 podcast chart and is downloaded over one million times per month.

The podcast helps distract your mind from whatever thoughts are whizzing around, which will be extremely beneficial to mums.

Drew, who works on the podcast in his spare time, spoke to The New Yorker about Sleep With Me where he described it as the podcast that, “sheep listen to when they get tired of counting themselves.”

This podcast will help you doze off and get the much needed eight hours sleep that is recommended.

Women are told to ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’ but that isn’t as easy as it may seem. Many women admit that worrying about their kids keeps them awake at night, but this podcast will help distract you and ease your mind.

A lack of sleep can have a significant impact on your health. Sleepiness can have a poor impact on your brain as it makes it harder for you to concentrate and to problem solve. A severe lack of sleep can cause the skin to age. It can also contribute to weight gain and to the symptoms of depression.

Experts state that you should get 7-9 hours’ sleep every night. The Sleep With Me podcast will help you nod off at night. You could even play it to your children during those tricky bedtime nights when they refuse to hit the hay.
