While some children may have dreams of walking on the moon or being able to fly, 12-year-old Luka Tavčar’s dreams are much simpler.

He suffers from muscular dystrophy, a degenerative disease which means he can’t do the normal things a 12-year-old boy can do as he is bound to his wheelchair.

Simple things such as playing basketball, going skate-boarding or simply walking up the stairs are things Luka can only dream of doing.

However, photographer Matej Peljhan helped Luka to live out his dreams, if only in photographs. The Slovenia-based photographer, who knows what it’s like to live with a disability himself after losing his right arm and left eye as a child, said: “He wants to stay positive. Luka’s imagination helps him forget his physical limitations. He’s fragile, but he can see the world differently.”

The photographs he produced are beautiful – we hope Luka is proud of being part of this creation.
