UPDATE: Police have confirmed that Ileana and Daniel were safely located this afternoon.
Original report: 07/01/'16
It has been a sad start to 2016 for many families in the UK, and police are hoping to crack the case of a missing mum and her toddler son this week.
The authorities have re-issued an appeal for help in locating 29-year-old Ileana Tomoiaga, who is missing along with her 18-month-old son Daniel Sava.
According to reports, Ms Tomoiaga was last seen at her home in East Sussex on New Year’s Eve. She is said to have left for a local Tesco Express with little Daniel, telling family that she was heading out to buy a bottle of wine and a phone charger.
However, there is no evidence of the pair ever reaching their destination, and Ms Tomoiaga’s family reported them missing on New Year’s Day.
Having launched initial appeals shortly after their disappearance, the police have today reissued their plea after failing to receive any significant leads on the pair's whereabouts.
Admitting that they are now growing concerned about the pair’s welfare, a representative for the police force said: "We are appealing to Ileana to contact us to let us know she and Daniel are safe.”
Ms Tomoiaga is described as white, 5ft 5in, slim with long red straight hair and pale skin. She speaks English, and has a Romanian accent.
Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with their local police station.
