After last month’s revelation that EastEnders will feature shocking storyline where Linda Carter is raped by Dean Wicks, it seems the show is in for another twist.

Kellie Bright, the actress who plays Linda on the show, revealed another plot twist for the dramatic upcoming story arc during an EastEnders press event.

Linda, who previously confessed to her husband that she wanted another baby, will discover that she is pregnant. However, she isn't certain who the father is.

“I think there are many stages to Linda’s post-rape self and initially there is shock which then leads into questioning herself about what has happened and why it’s happened,” Kellie explained.

“She feels a huge sense of guilt and consequently realises that Dean sees it in a very different way, so she is worried that she’s not going to be believed”.

Talking about the emotional fallout for her character, Kellie also hinted at the effect this will have on Linda’s relationship with her husband Mick.

“It’s going to have massive repercussions for Mick and Linda. Obviously it affects their physical relationship too. I also think she’s scared of what will happen if she tells Mick and what he will to do Dean. I think she feels part of her is broken and she doesn’t want to break him.”

“It’s partly because she loves Mick so much that she doesn’t tell him because she doesn’t want to spoil what they have but if she tells him then it’s gone. There are many layers,” Kellie said.

“I think one of the most heartbreaking things with this storyline is what it does to Mick as he doesn’t know what is wrong with Linda. The worst thing for me is that it’s turned her into a person that she never was, a liar, and someone that is shut down in a certain way.”

Despite the shocking events and tough emotional drama of the new storyline, Kellie believes this is what makes the show so great.

“This is EastEnders at its best and I do feel that. It’s going to be really good telly”.
