She recently took to Twitter to criticise parents who feed their children junk food every day, and this week Catherine Tyldesley is turning her attention to ‘careless’ midwives.

The Coronation Street star, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Tom Pitfield, has hit out at hospital staff who painted childbirth in a “negative” light on a documentary.

Writing in her blog for HELLO!, the actress blasted nurses featured on the show who described childbirth as “horrific” and “the worst pain you will ever experience”.

“WHAT?! Right Mrs – we know for a FACT the power of the human mind leads your body to react. If your mind is surrounded by negative words, negative influence and intervention…that’s not going to be very helpful for you or baby, is it?” wrote Catherine.

She added: “Surrounded by meditation, positive thoughts and positive people? It has a HUGE impact on mum’s mindset.”

Catherine previously revealed that she will be hypnobirthing – using hypnotherapy to assist her when she gives birth – insisting that “nature knows best” when it comes to having your baby.

The star announced back in August that she was expecting with fiancé Tom, with her due date fast approaching.
