Holly Willoughby had her last appearance on ITV's This Morning today before beginning her maternity leave. The TV presenter was so overcome with the emotion of saying goodbye that she burst into tears on air, much to the surprise of co-presenter Philip Schofield.

Speaking about her last day on air, Holly said, "I won’t be gone forever, just for a bit. I’m feeling quite weird about it." At the end of the show, her husband Dan Baldwin chatted on air over the phone and made the big announcement that the couple are expecting a little girl.

The star was presented with a cute blue and pink cake, and her temporary replacement Amanda Holden even showed up with a bunch of flowers. Things got too much for Holly, who had to take out the tissues live on air.

The presenter is due to give birth soon to her third child, and she said her hectic schedule is getting to her. "By the end of the day I'm ready for bed. I can't wait to just wallow at home like a big hippo," she recently told the Daily Star.

After her emotional goodbye, Holly tweeted a sweet message of thanks to her viewers and fans:

We wish her all the best!
