It looks as though Prince George may be have brought the good old-fashioned woolly cardigan right back in style!

According to reports, the little prince’s penchant for thick-knitted sweaters and fluffy woollen cardigans has led to a major surge in sales of traditional knitted garments, from jumpers right through to blankets and shawls.

Indeed, parents are so keen to follow the Duchess of Cambridge’s example that heritage babywear clothing companies have experienced incredible profits in the past year – some, by up to a staggering 400 percent.

The ‘George effect’ all started after his very first public appearance, on the steps of St Mary’s Hospital, in the woollen shawl that went on to sell-out from retailers GH Hurt and Son.

With a string of stylish public appearances during the royal tour this summer, it now seems George is setting the style standards for babies everywhere, and bringing the more traditional pieces such as dungarees, button-clip booties and woollen cardis back on trend.

No doubt retailers have their fingers crossed that it will be a girl next for the Duchess of Cambridge, and we’ll have a new mini style icon on our hands!
