Many little girls dream of being swept off their feet by Prince Charming, but five-year-old Isabelle Nixon has experienced the real thing.

Isabelle was in the crowd at the closing ceremony for the Invictus Games with her family, in support of her father Adam who captained Team GB to basketball victory.

Surrounded by people and unable to see the stage where the Foo Fighters were playing, the little girl was getting upset.  Then suddenly, to her delight, someone hoisted her onto their shoulders so she could see and started dancing with her.

Her valiant rescuer was none other than Prince Harry.

The family had met Harry earlier in the day when he congratulated Adam on his victory and posed for a photo, and he recognised little Isabella in the crowd.

“Prince Harry had spoken to us at the ceremony, just to say how proud he was of us guys,' explained Adam. “We were underdogs in the final but we beat the US at their own game.”

“He recognised her from earlier in the day and saw she was getting upset because she couldn’t see the band. He approached us and smiled at me and just literally picked her up and just started to dance so she could see the stage.”

“There was no calculation to it. He just recognised her from earlier and lifted her up on his shoulders so she could see. It was a bit of a whirlwind. It was very surreal.”

Isabella didn’t even realise who she was dancing with until her mum called to her “You’re dancing with Prince Harry!”

“When she realised who it was, she was lost for words,” her dad recalled. “She just danced along to the Foo Fighters with him and hasn’t stopped smiling since.”

“Isabelle now says she's a princess and tells all her friends she danced with ‘Uncle Harry’”, delighted mum Taryn said. “He was the perfect gentleman and made everyone’s day, especially Isabelle’s."
