Rugby star Ronan O’Gara and his wife Jessica have welcomed a baby boy into the world.

The former Ireland and Munster rugby player, who is now coaching with Racing Metro in Paris, was by his wife’s side as she gave birth to their newest son.

The couple have named their little bundle of joy Max, who was born weighing 9lb 10oz.

Baby Max is brother to Ronan and Jessica’s four other children, twins Molly and Rua who are five, three-year-old JJ and Zac, who is almost two.

Ronan has previously described fatherhood as being “bigger and more important than anything that has happened on the rugby pitch”.

Ronan said of his wife Jessica, “She determines my happiness every day, because if she is not happy I won't be happy and the kids won't be happy.”

"That's the reality of it. From a selfish point of view the rugby has been so much more enjoyable because I have a happy home," added the rugby player.
