Congratulations are in order for New Zealand rugby player Sonny Bill Williams, who has welcomed a baby daughter.

Williams’ wife Alana gave birth to the couple’s child in the early hours of this morning.

The news was confirmed by the New Zealand rugby team’s assistant coach, Ian Foster, at a training session.

“In case we get any questions about where Sonny was this morning, we are delighted his wife Alana had a baby girl this morning,” said Foster.

Williams later took to his social media to share the wonderful news himself, posting a beautiful photo of his daughter’s tiny foot.

The caption on the adorable photo read: “The proudest moment of my life”.

The 29-year-old has previously spoken of his desire to settle down and have children, saying that he is looking forward to enjoying family life after he retires from sport.

He told The Footy Show: “When I finish playing and that, I’m not gonna be chasing the limelight, I’ll settle for, God willing, just raising my kids to be good kids, and still being the favoured uncle that I am at the moment, and somewhere happy but with my family.”

What lovely news. Congratulations to the couple.
