In what was intended to be an inspirational message, Palin explains how her son Trig ‘made a stepping stone’ of their dog in an effort to finish washing the dishes.
Sharing the photo on her Facebook page, Palin wrote:
“Happy New Year! May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!” found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.”
Needless to say, Palin’s controversial post has come in for major criticism, with a number of commenters accusing her of animal cruelty.
While one person branded Palin “sick”, another wrote: “Abuse! And teach the kid some manners, caring and humanity! Still can’t believe you were a governor and Vice President contender. Simply frightening!”
As well as attracting thousands of comments, the photo has also been shared nearly seven thousand times on the social media site.
Palin has left the photo up but has yet to comment after the backlash.
