We are in the middle of a massive heatwave, the longest one in 42 years!
It does not look like it will be ending soon either. A hosepipe ban has already been issued for Northern Ireland, and it seems England will start implementing similar water conservations as well.
United Utilities have announced on their website that they will issue a hosepipe ban starting on August 5th. This will affect most areas they cover in the North West region, including parts of Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire.
If you are unsure if your home is affected, you can check your address via the website here.
The ban outlaws any use of outside hoses for purposes such as, filling a pool, watering the garden, and cleaning the car. However, you can use tap water for these purposes.
They strongly advise you refrain from any outdoor water use as to preserve as much water as possible.
With the increase in temperature, reservoir levels are lower than usual, and water companies want to prepare for a hot and dry remaining summer.
Weather is predicted to be dry with sunny spells for the rest of the week, so it looks like we will have to go to the local, indoor pool to cool off.
