Police are reportedly searching a house owned by veteran singer Sir Cliff Richard today in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.

Officers were seen removing a number of items from the property, located in Sunningdale, England.

“A search warrant was granted after police received an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time,” said a police spokeman. “No one has been arrested and the owner of the property was not present.”

Police have confirmed that the property search is not connected to Operation Yewtree, which was recently in the spotlight for launching allegations of indecent assault on young girls against entertainer Rolf Harris.

Sir Cliff is currently holidaying in the Algarve in Portugal, according to the BBC.

The singer’s publicist says she was not previously aware of any allegations against the singer.
