Claire Sweeney, 43, has revealed that she will be having a baby boy, and she will call him Gabriel “because he's my little angel sent from heaven”.
The soap star told a UK magazine her reasoning behind the name: "I thought it was a beautiful name but I might see him and decide on something else. Initially I wanted a girl but I've got my head around it now and as long as he's healthy, I'm happy."
Claire kept her pregnancy a secret from everyone, including her former partner Daniel Riley, until after the three month scan. She says she was afraid to tell anyone after suffering two miscarriages previously: "I kept it quiet during my first trimester. I wanted to make sure the baby was ok because of the two miscarriages I had before.”
She spoke about the devastating time:
"I just wrapped myself in cotton wool.
“I didn't discuss it with anyone - that's the reason I didn't announce this pregnancy until I was five months pregnant; I wanted to keep it private and safe.”
Unfortunately Claire and Daniel have parted ways, but they are both thrilled with the pregnancy and plan on sharing the responsibility of the new baby.
