There are wedding divas, and then there's THIS!

Now we know that getting married is as exciting as it is stressful, and sometimes even the most calm, level-headed people go a little, shall we say ‘loco’ in the lead up to big day. But THIS just has to be the most extreme case of bridezilla we’ve ever come across.

A bride-to-be actually asked her bridesmaid to DYE her natural red hair brown for her wedding so she would ‘fit in’ with the other bridesmaids!

“Yesterday morning I received an email from Ella,” wrote the bridesmaid on Reddit. “It seemed pretty standard but then when she got into the look she wants for her bridesmaids she wrote: ‘#Bridehairthrowaway, you'll need to dye your hair for the day, I’ll take you to my hairdresser and cover the cost :)’.”

Eek!

And when her nonplussed fiery haired maid texted her about it, the bride replied that her hair would clash with the other bridesmaids as it’s quite “attention-grabbing” and would take away from the “cohesiveness of the group”. And she also had to cheek to add that brides “get a veto” over pretty much every aspect of her bridesmaids’ appearances!

“I told her I wasn't comfortable dying my hair,” said the bridesmaid. “She said she’d get back to me but hoped I'd reconsider.”

However, with pressure put on her from the other bridesmaids, who say she should just do it, the bridesmaid was worried she was being unreasonable and took to Reddit to ask users their advice.

And thankfully the advice was heartening, with commenters expressing disbelief at the request:

“Who asks this? I think other than asking if she would change her skin colour, this is up there with the most WTF request I've heard for a bridesmaid,” said one.

“It comes from insecurity,” said another.

While more spoke about the whole point of a wedding: fun, happiness, a celebration of love – and NOT who looks prettiest.

“Your bridesmaids are your closest friends/family” said one wise commenter. “Why would you want to prove you are prettier instead of making it a fun party?”

While another’s comment was just brilliant:

“My bridesmaids are probably all, objectively, prettier than me,” she wrote. “I'd never EVER be like, Reba, you need to get a breast reduction and dye your beautiful blonde hair so you don't outshine me. Maddie, your hip to waist ratio is a lot better than mine so you need to tie some padding around your waist so you look less slim. Steph, you can't wear mascara or eyeliner because I don't want attention drawn to your luminous brown eyes. I love my bridesmaids for who they are, and that's why I picked them. They're my best friends, and I want them to look their best, and look the way I know them. Not look like a bunch of hired actresses there to make me look extra lovely. People will already be paying more attention to me. I'm the bride.

“Your friend is nuts. I would say no. If she makes a stink, that's her loss, not yours. Offer to attend as a guest instead if she really can't overcome it.”

“Thank you for confirming I'm not crazy,” replied the bridesmaid. “I was considering offering to wear a wig, but I even think that's kind of weird. She was just so casual about it she made it seem like a normal occurrence.”
