Like all good mums, Jaime Primak Sullivan has always raised her kids to be polite and respectful.

That's why she was so disappointed on a recent trip to an ice-cream shop.

After a nice restaurant meal, the Alabama mum and star of US reality show Jersey Belle went for dessert with her husband and three kids.

But as the shop assistant handed each child their ice-cream, her children displayed no manners at all.

In a Facebook post which has now gone viral, Jaime wrote: "Not one looked her in the eye. Not one said thank you. Not to her, not to me...so I waited."

Counting to ten in her head as her children licked away on their ice-creams, Jaime watched as her kids strolled out the door.

"I followed them outside where I calmly collected their ice-creams and my kids watched in horror as I deposited them into the nearby garbage can."

"All three launched into mass hysteria. I waited. Quiet. Calm. When they realised I had something to say, they quieted down."

Jaime told her kids that one day, if they were lucky, they'd have a job like the young lady who'd just served them, and that she hoped that people would look them in the eye and say thanks.

Finishing her post, she drew attention to the decline of politeness and simple manners in society.

"We are too old at 8/7/5 to move through our days without exercising manners and honestly basic human decency...so today, I am the meanest mom in the world."

Her story has received almost 300,000 'likes' and has been shared over 30,000 times.

Fair play to Jaime for standing her ground and addressing the issue. Sometimes kids need clear, strong consequences to learn their lessons.
