We've been excited ever since we heard that Margaret L'Engle's classic novel A Wrinkle in Time is getting a big screen adaptation.

And now that we've discovered Mattel are releasing A Wrinkle in Time Barbies to complement the new film? Well, you can barely keep us in our seats!

Storm Reid, who stars as 13-year-old Meg Murry in the upcoming film, shared a picture of the Mrs. Who (new mum Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), and Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) Barbies.

In the film, the three characters guide Meg through the universe to rescue her father. The science fantasy tale is utterly captivating, and so are those dolls!

One of the best parts about the Barbies were the actress' delighted reactions to them.

"When a childhood dream comes to life! Excited to reveal my very own Mattel doll based off of my Red-headed alter ego, Mrs. WhatsIt from #WrinkleInTime!!" Reese tweeted excitedly.

In another tweet, director Ava DuVernay gushed, "When Disney makes Barbies of your movie’s characters and you just want to stare at them all day in disbelief because you loved Barbies as a girl but never had any like these."

Ava is, of course, referencing the importance of representing diversity in our children's toys. As the first black female director to have her film nominated for Best Picture in the Oscars (for Selma), she has always been concerned about the empowerment and representation of black women in media.

A Wrinkle in Time will be in cinemas on March 23, and the dolls will be available on February 23 at $50 (£35) a pop.

What do you think of the A Wrinkle in Time Barbies, mums? Are you excited for the new film?
