Leaving your child in the care of someone else is hard for any parent.

Whether they're there for the whole day while you go to work or just a couple of hours to enable them to interact with other kids, it's tough waving goodbye at the door.

So when we saw this pretty incredible day care centre in Michigan we were actually overcome with emotion.

Why? Because the centre is not just for children, it's also a senior care facility.

At the Bethlehem Intergenerational Center, seniors and children mingle with each other creating a mutually beneficial environment.

The kids get to interact with the older generation - something they may not get to do otherwise - and the seniors benefit from helping to care for the kids, giving them a sense of purpose.

It also promotes friendship between the two ages.

"We know that children benefit from having that consistent, caring adult in their lives,” Dr. Shannon Jarrott, who conducted research on the subject at the University of Virginia, told TODAY.

"And when seniors are invited to contribute in an age appropriate and ability appropriate manner it gives a role back to them as well."

What do you think? Would you send your child to a creche like this?
