Amy Childs officially introduced her newborn daughter Polly to the world this week, with a photo shoot for OK! magazine, and gave an insight into her journey with motherhood so far.

Among the topics covered by the 26-year-old former TOWIE star is breastfeeding and how – like so many other mothers – she has struggled to nurse her little one.

Amy – who welcomed her first child with partner Bradley Wright – admitted that while she tried to breastfeed her baby girl, it just hasn’t worked for them. And, according to her, it’s all down to her breast implants.

The reality TV star first went under the knife at the age of 18, getting breast implants to take her from an AA to an EE. When she first announced her pregnancy, last year, she admitted she was worried the decision may come back to bite her.

She told The Mirror, at the time: “I’d love to breastfeed but I may not be able to. I wish I’d had none of it done.”

In her latest interview, with OK!, she revealed that she has had no luck with getting Polly to latch and feed.

“She wasn’t latching on. I stayed in hospital the next day and they told me I needed nipple shields, as I have inverted nipples,” she explained.

“She latched on but wasn’t really getting anything from it, just a little colostrum. The milk wasn’t coming.”

Eventually, Amy resigned herself to the fact that ‘this wasn’t going to happen’: “The midwife said to do a little bit of bottle and breast, but Polly wasn’t going near the breast. I gave it 150 per cent, but it just didn’t work for me.”

While Amy lamented the fact that ‘things don’t always go to plan’, she admitted that she is just relieved now that Polly is ‘getting lots of milk’.

Amy and partner Bradley welcomed their bundle of joy into the world on April 30. Writing in her new! column after the birth, Amy revealed that she had been in labour for 27 hours, and was left ‘in shock’ after the experience.

“I had to have an epidural in the end as it was all too much…I had to have two stitches,” she explained, describing labour as ‘bloody painful’.
