It's always sweet to see kids bonding with their pets.

But ten-year-old Julia has an extra special bond with her dog Walter. That’s because they were both born deaf.

Walter joined Julia’s family when her mum Chrissy came across the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, an animal care charity that finds new homes for pups who’ve had a difficult start.

Just last week, they shared a story on their Facebook page about Julia and Walter’s relationship, and it’s melting our hearts.

“When I first held Julia, since she couldn’t really hear my voice, she would smell my neck,” Chrissy says in the video. “And when I first held Walter, he did almost the same exact thing.”

“I remember looking at him and I knew he was meant to be ours.”

She even says the pair are “the same,” explaining that Walter “waits for her to finish her homework and then they’re off to go play in the yard.”

Adorably, Julia has started teaching Walter commands in sign language, which she has been using since she was a baby herself. He now responds to ‘sit’, ‘water’ and ‘food’ commands.

Julia now describes Walter as her “best friend.”

“They were meant to find each other,” Chrissy says.

Aww. What a beautiful bond. Check out their exploits below.
