The Internet breathed a collective ‘aw’ with the story of a man and woman both in their nineties who took a chance on love by meeting for a blind date.

Miriam Steiner, 93, and Harold Sharlin, 90, who are both widowed, showed up to the Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington DC for a hot date set up by Harold’s granddaughter Jenny.

Staff at Politics and Prose couldn’t help but ask if they could snap a photo, posting it to the store’s Facebook page with the caption: “We're not crying. We just have something in our eye. Harold and Miriam, both in their nineties, met for a blind first date at the bookstore on Sunday.”

They look utterly gorgeous and lovable in the photo, which no doubt caused people to flood the comments section with good wishes.

“I hope this couple get some extra dollars donated, for some cab charges, restaurant vouchers, so they can have some special dates, just shows age should not be a reason to stop you stepping out of your comfort zone,” said one commenter. “So happy for Harold and Miriam, keep loving life, having fun, love your photo!”

“Congratulations to both of you I see it’s never too late for love. And age is just a number god bless,” added another.

While others wondered if the youthful-looking pair had done a deal with the devil.

“90s, and looking fantastic!” said one, while another declared, “This is so sweet. She does not look 93 and neither does he look 90”.

Miriam and Harold’s big smiles and zest for life have brightened up our day. Love them!
