Seth Cole from Kansas is just your average seven-year-old boy. That means that, from time to time, he's a bit of a messer.

Recently when out playing with his football, the boy's antics lead to him breaking a neighbour’s window, causing about $50 worth of damage.

When Seth’s mum Sabrina found out, she spotted an opportunity to teach her boy a good, old-fashioned lesson.

“He’s seven, he should have known better, so he’s gonna help,” she told Kake.

“I’m trying to raise my kids old-fashioned. I was raised old-fashioned, and if I would have done something like this when I was young, I would have had to have worked to replace it.”

While she wants to instil a traditional work ethic and values in her boy, Sabrina isn’t afraid to let technology help her out with that.

Keen to get her message across, she posted an ad on Craigslist offering her boy’s handywork in exchange for money to pay for the window.

Naturally, she was cautious about taking such an unusual approach to discipline, but she insists she’ll be with her son at all times.

“I’m going to be with my son every step of the way,” she said. “It’s not like I’m going to ship him off to a stranger’s house and…be back in a few hours when the job’s done.”

And while the goal is to raise the cash needed, Sabrina is hoping that Seth gets something else out of it.

“It’s about respect, pride and how to work hard too,” she said.

Well, we admire her efforts to instil good values in her boy, although we reckon her approach is a little extreme!

SHARE if you reckon kids need to learn their lessons just like we did.
