Imagine being left with a child, with no financial or emotional support?
That’s what happened to this young mum.
“1.5. years ago, my son’s father left,” she wrote on a recent Imgur post. “He would still come by to see his child but it was clear everything between us was over. And he wasn’t going to provide support. I was terrified.”
But then she met this guy.
While the pair had known each other for a long time before her ex split, they’d never hung out properly before.
And boy, is she glad they did.
“We spent an entire night talking about everything. It was truly magical,” she wrote. “Everything was kind of a whirlwind after that. We were in love. And life was good.”
But he didn’t just love her.
As she wrote, “Even better, he loved my son. He became an amazing father figure. It was more than I could ever ask for. He truly embraced every part of parenting. My son is his son.”
“It was the family I had always dreamed of having, even if it wasn’t conventional.”
And it gets better. Just two months ago, he asked for her hand in marriage. Needless to say, her response was a resounding yes.
“This man has been a father to a boy he didn’t have to be,” she wrote.
“I recognised then that starting a relationship with a woman with a child is hard. But he stepped up. He is his father as much as his biological father.”
