A three year old boy has died after falling ill while at a theme park with his parents.

 

The family were enjoying a day out at Wheelgate Theme Park in Faransfield, Nottinghamshire yesterday when the boy began to feel unwell.

 

Immediately calling emergency services, the boy was airlifted to hospital by paramedics.

 

He was pronounced dead just a short time later.

 

Police have confirmed that the death in not being treated as suspicious and there is no evidence to link the boy’s death to the theme park.

 

Wheelgate Theme Park will remain closed until tomorrow as a “mark of respect.”

 

 The venue released a statement saying: “Management and staff would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family of the young child who passed away in hospital after having suddenly taken ill while visiting the park.”

 

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our visitors on Sunday for their co-operation and understanding during what was clearly a very distressing time for the child and his family, and also to extend our gratitude to the work of the all the emergency services, as well as an off duty nurse who assisted immediately and the on-site first aid team outside the theme park." The statement continued.
