Travelling with kids is tough, there is no point in denying it. But - and this is a fairly big, positive 'but' - it is so worth it. Trust us.

Yes, for the mums who shudder at the mere thoughts of sitting on a plane trying to entertain their little ones for hours, or those who have resigned themselves to not going anywhere until baby John is 18, we TOTALLY understand where you are coming from.

Sometimes life is too short to be spending your day stressing out about whether the sun is too hot or the water is too cold; but life is too short to spend it missing out on family holidays.

If you've been putting off that trip because you think Baby is too young, then read these:

1. You will see the world through their eyes

You may have been to the same spot two or three times before, but your little one will make you look at things differently - with more appreciation and wonder.

2. Think of the incredible memories

We all have that one family vacation memory that sticks in our heads. You know the kind where Dad falls into the pool in his clothes, or Mum has to run around trying to catch a frog that had somehow managed to get into the apartment. These are the kind of stories you bring up at Christmas dinner.

3. You can experience new things TOGETHER

Whether's it's a new culture, new people or even new food, your little one will experience new things that they never could at home.

4. It might be stressful getting there, but when you arrive - just wow

You can actually enjoy spending time with each other without constantly thinking about routines or clothes that need to be washed. Even if it's just for a few days, simply being together for a week or two, swimming and playing away from everyday distractions is pure bliss.

5. A good holiday proves to kids that they CAN survive without a house full of toys to keep them entertained

Yes, you will bring a few toys (we're not punishing the kids here!) but obviously you won't be able to bring everything. Leave the devices at home and encourage them to use their imagination as they play with their siblings - they will learn so much.
