Trying to get pregnant? This is the perfect time to conceive

Whether you're starting a family or looking to expand your gang, getting pregnant can take time. Attempting to make a baby can be great fun; but it seems timing can be everything when you're looking to conceive.

Scientists believe that the best time to conceive is in the morning time. Researchers at the University Hospital Zurich indicate that much like us, sperm has a 24-hour body clock.

The prime time for sperm is before 7.30 am, so to increase your chances of getting pregnant, you should give it a go before you head to work.

The scientists said that the semen samples collected in the early morning before 7:30 am showed the highest levels in sperm concentration, total sperm count and normal morphology (size and shape).

Commenting on the results, the study’s lead author Dr Brigitte Leeners said: "Male semen quality varies with both circadian and circannual rhythms."

"Collection of semen in the early morning, where semen quality was highest, can be used to improve natural fertility," the author added.

The study's evidence is based off 12,245 semen samples from 7,068 men between the ages of 25 and 40.

The researchers went one step further and discovered that the time of year also impacts men's swimmers.

Spring is ideal for sperm to flourish and men are most fertile in the months of March, April and May.

However, warm summers significantly decrease sperm count, according to the study, which was published in the journal Chronobiology International.

There's no harm in giving this a go in the morning and to keep in mind as spring rolls around, that it might be the perfect time to try for a baby.
