In a world where technology reigns, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear that kids are shunning traditional play for their games consoles and tech-gadgets – but this is far from the case, it seems.

According to new research released by Fruit Shoot this week, British children are less interested in traditional childhood activities and are opting instead for more exotic outdoor ‘adventures’.

Published to celebrate the start of Mini Mudder – an adventure obstacle for children aged 7 to 12 – the research showed that 47% of children actually prefer to be outside when they are not at school. But, far from being content with climbing trees or playing hide-and-seek, today’s kids want ‘exotic’ adventures.

With a whopping 64% of the 1,000 children surveyed admitting to having at least one ‘adventure’ a week, this type of outing was described as anything from swimming in the sea and going on holiday, to even exploring a rainforest - the dream location for one-in-10.

While a best friend topped the list of the ‘Top 10 Things’ the kids would take on an adventure, Katy Perry is the celebrity they would most like to accompany them on their journey.

Does your little one enjoy an ‘adventure’ each week?
