Strictly Come Dancing returned to our screens this weekend and it’s safe to say the public was delighted. Viewers were pleasantly surprised at the contestants, who performed some of the best opening numbers in Strictly history.

Documentary maker Stacey Dooley’s lively quickstep, Joe Sugg’s energetic jive and Ashley Roberts’ fairytale Viennese waltz were among the fan favourites, but one contestant hasn’t been proving all too popular with the public.

A petition has been started to remove fashion journalist Susannah Constantine from the show because she supports hunting.

The petition reads: “Susanah Constantine of Trinny and Susannah is currently participating in the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing even after it has been reported that she is involved in the disgusting ‘sport’ of hunting.”

They continued: “Not only is she involved, but her 10-year-old daughter also kills animals for sport.”

“The BBC should not be rewarding this cruel activity with a primetime show and financial gain,” they added.

The petition has nearly reached its goal of 500 signatures, but the BBC has yet to comment on the matter.

Viewers are hoping the presenter will be voted off in next weekend's elimination.

Susannah and her professional dance partner Anton DuBeke performed a Samba on Saturday night’s show. They were awarded a mere 12 points with Craig Revel Horwood scoring them a measly one point.

The couple is currently at the bottom of the leaderboard so Sussana’s time on the show may be cut short, but viewers will have to tune into next week’s episode to find out.

The next episode of Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One at 6.30 pm on Saturday, September 29.
