A family is in mourning over the death of their son, Jayce Markell Benjamin, who passed away after being left in a hot car for 10 hours.
According to reports, the baby’s father set out earlier that day with his four children, to drop them to day care. However, after waving off his elder three children, the man forgot about his eight-month-old son in the backseat.
The man then drove home and parked in his driveway, before the baby’s grandmother came and drove the car to her job, at Walmart. She did not realise that the baby was in the backseat of the car.
It is alleged that the child was left in the hot car for 10 hours and was only discovered after his panicked mother noticed that he was not at day care with his siblings. She then called her mother, who went out to the car park and found little Jayce unconscious.
Tragically, Jayce was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. It is not believed that he was intentionally harmed.
