Robin Williams starred in some of the greatest family films of all time before his passing in 2014. He played many the iconic character from the genie in Aladdin to Peter Pan in Hook. However, his role as Daniel Hillard in timeless classic Mrs Doubtfire is one that will always hold a special place in our hearts.

 

The 1994 movie follows a divorced dad-of-three who longs to spend more time with his children. He decides to hatch an extravagant plan and disguises himself as a nanny called Mrs Doubtfire.

 

 

The heartwarming tale is a firm family favourite that we must watch whenever it is on TV and now fans can watch it on the big stage as it’s making its way to Broadway.

 

It has been confirmed that the musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks.

Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell will pen the Mrs Doubtfire book and Wayne Kirkpatrick will write the music and lyrics alongside Tony nominee Karey Kirkpatrick.

 

Speaking of the production, Kevin McCollum and Bob Cohen of Fox Stage Productions said: “Mrs. Doubtfire is such a beloved story, both laugh-out-loud hilarious and extremely moving. Getting this team together and crafting Mrs. Doubtfire for the stage has been pure joy.”

 

They added: “We can’t wait to get into production.”

 

 

The cast has yet to be confirmed, but we cannot wait to see who will take on the iconic role that Robin Williams will always be remembered for.
