The lyrics of a rap song aren't usually very touching. They're usually about girls with large breasts and what not.

But this rap video by Syrian pre-teens will make your heart bleed.

The kids in question are victims of war - injured, scarred, bereaved and displaced. They have submitted requests to the UN's Ban Ki-Moon and the US Secretary of State John Kerry.

They live in a refugee camp in Akkar, northern Lebanon and they have illustrated their own plight and wishes better than any world leader could.

The group, supported by Concern Worldwide, wrote and performed a rap telling the world that they want to be the children "playing with the ball, watching Tom and Jerry, not Ban Ki Moon and Kerry."

The eldest is just 12 years of age.

The song begins lamenting the fact that kids leave their house for school each morning, "saying goodbye to their Mom, afraid of being blown up by a bomb."

It continues with the wish to go back to their carefree childhood lives.

"I wish I could go back to the alley where I once wrote my name...I wish I could be the child playing with the ball watching Tom and Jerry, not Ban Ki Moon and Kerry."

Sadly, the lead singer reveals that he'd be happy to die, if it meant peace was returned to his home land.

"I want to see the last bullet fired even if it's into my body."

It's full of dreams for a brighter future, where people accept each other's differences.

"Churches next to Mosques, the Eastern Gate still standing and the sectarians all gone away."

And if peace is ever granted, the boys vow to put their beloved country back together again.

"Syria be strong, tomorrow we'll rebuild you, dry your tears, please don't cry...Spring is coming and you will blossom."

It ends with a reminder that war is never the answer, only another problem.

"Weapons were made for destruction, guns won't help. Syria needs roses. Syria is bleeding - wake up for God's sake."

We're on the verge of tears just reading this. You can watch the video to hear the lyrics in full:
