What sun care advice do you recommend for pale Irish skin?

For those who are fair skinned and tend to burn in the sun, follow our top tips to be sun smart and reduce your risk of sun damage.

Fair, Irish skin should be well protected from both UVA and UVB rays. You should apply at least factor 20 all over your body. Consider opting for a higher sun protection factor for your face. Don’t forget to apply sun cream to hands, ears and tops of feet – these places are frequently forgotten about and can be very sore if they get burned.

Always wear sunglasses to protect the delicate area around the eyes. Choose sunglasses that block out 99-100% of UV rays and that screen out 75-90% of visible light.

Seek shade between the hours of 12pm - 3pm. Sit underneath a sun umbrella, or head indoors and get out of the sun entirely. Who said siestas were all bad?
