Despite news that Kate Beckinsale and her husband Len Wiseman had decided to separate after a 12-year marriage, the mum-of-one was in flying form when speaking to Seth Meyers on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers recently.

However, rather than bombard her with questions on her family life, Seth decided to focus in on Kate’s unusual obsession: rearranging fruit bowls to resemble penises.

Admitting that she finds it funny, the 43-year-old said: “I’m not obsessed with penises. I just like rearranging the fruit version. It’s funny if it’s vegetables and fruit.”

But she also likes doodling them too, and this is how she got her 17-year-old daughter, Lily, whose dad is Michael Sheen, in a little trouble with her teacher.

“So I had been on the phone and doodling and it had been on Lily’s homework,” Kate began explaining.

“She was in sixth grade and she ended up getting in trouble for it.”

Elaborating on the incident, the Love and Friendship actress continued: “The teacher said: ‘That’s not appropriate, Lily’, and she had to say: ‘Look, it was my mother’.”

However, while she didn't get in trouble herself, Kate did say that the teacher wouldn't make eye contact with her anymore.

We're sure we'd be getting the side-eye as well if we were Lily's teacher!
