Martine McCutcheon has announced that she is pregnant with her first child. Her baby boy is due on Valentine’s Day 2015.

Martine (38), best known her roles in Love Actually and EastEnders, has called herself “blessed” to be pregnant following years of health problems.

Martine has long struggled with the chronic fatigue syndrome ME and severe depression brought on by the illness.

“We’d always said that if we were fortunate to be blessed with a child, that would be wonderful, but we were very aware that it’s not a given,” Martine shared in an interview.

“As a woman in her late 30s who’s experienced health problems, I thought I might have to accept that it wasn’t a path my life was going to take, but it would have been a great sadness in our lives if that had been the case."

The news that she is three and a half months pregnant is life changing for Martine and her singer husband, Jack McManus. The couple have been together since 2007, and married in 2012.

Things have been very difficult for Martine, as her illness left her unable to work, forcing her to declare bankruptcy last year. The actress feels that her new arrival will mark a new chapter in her life.

“It’s like finally the tides have turned,” Martine said. “Great things are starting to happen on the work front, but more than anything, expecting our baby boy has given us clarity about what matters.”
