It's common for grandparents to put up a few happy snaps of their grandchildren on their walls.

But suffice to say, this grandmother went a few steps further.

Carmen Baugh from North Carolina spent thousands of dollars decorating her entire living room with wallpaper, curtains and cushions covered with her grandkids’ faces!

After she moved from Charlotte to Raleigh to be closer to her grandkids, she decided to redecorate her new place, and came up with this unique idea.

“My grandson and granddaughter are my pride and joy so why not decorate my home with their faces on?,” she said.

“I call my sitting room, which is covered with their faces, my pride and joy room. I have a top I made with their faces on too and when I stand up against the wall I blend in and disappear. All you can see is my head.”

“They came in and were pointing at their faces on the wallpaper and saying, ‘it’s me.’ They were very excited.”

Unsurprisingly, her grandkids love the final result.

“My grandkids came in and were pointing at their faces on the wallpaper and saying, ‘It’s me.’”

“They were very excited. However, some people thought it was mad. My older sister, Mary, asked how long I was going to keep it up. I don’t think she believed me when I said I wasn’t taking it down.”

Her forty-something daughter Kristen and son-in-law Scott were a bit “taken aback”, too, while Carmen’s husband, Bob, is getting used to the new home décor.

“He adores our grandkids and thinks it’s a fun room. But it is rather intense so if he ever wants to get away from it, we have lots of other rooms he can go to.”

“If my grandchildren played hide and seek against that wall they disappear too. They think it’s cool. My friends and neighbours think it’s brave. It’s just a bit different.”

And Carmen’s not necessarily finished yet.

Her other daughter, thirty-seven-year-old Kelly, doesn’t have kids, but if she ever does, Carmen will be making space for her little ones too.

“Hopefully once day we can do the rest of the walls with her kids,” she said. “The family room has blank walls that need redecorating!”

Something tells us her grandchildren won’t be in any doubt that they’re the apple of her eye.
