Mum cannot praise her nine-year-old son enough after he saved her life by insisting she go visit a doctor.

Kimberly Smith was at home with her seven-month-old baby and she started having chest pains.

She didn’t think much of them, but the next day they were a lot worse and the mum-of-two had to go lay down.

Talking to InsideEdition, the 32-year-old said that when her son Camdyn came home from school and saw her in bed, he became worried.

By this stage she was experiencing a crushing pain against her chest.

“He sat next to me and didn’t want to leave my side. I said, 'I just need to nap,' and he said, 'I don’t think so,'" the mum explained.

So why was he so worried?

Well, the youngster’s PE teacher had recently suffered from a blood clot, and told the kids that if they ever saw someone clutching their chest to call for an ambulance.

So he did.

And because of his insistence, Kimberly, who was diagnosed with multiple blood clots in her lungs, is now alive and well.

"I keep thinking about it and I keep reading about it. Blood clots kill so many people," she said.

"I can’t imagine not being with my children every day and not seeing them grow and he made that possible for me. What Camdyn did was heroic."
